Zapata & I certified on
3 June 2008, we are TOP DOG Service Dog Team #091!
BR
Our thanks to Mike, Lydia,
Tana, Agnes, Mary and all with TOP DOG for the great training and assistance
that they have provided. And helping us to achieve our goal.
BR
Thank you TOP DOG!
BR
Thanks' to all who have
supported us and encouraged us to push forward.
BR
I have been disabled since
1992 due to a degenerative spinal condition and chronic pain. I am
still walking, but someday that will come to an end. In the meantime,
I utilize a cane, wheelchair/motorized chair and a Great Dane.
BR
That's right a GREAT
DANE!
Most places I go I require
another individual to be with me. It is very frustrating and makes
getting out sometimes impossible. Well, things all changed in 1998.
My sweet Manhattan........our
first Dane. My first Service Dog, she was not certified.....but an
awesome service animal. We started training her at 8 weeks.
She served my needs for 8 years. Now Zapata has filled that position.
As a bonus 'safety concerns'
are not a issue when being with a Dane. They know where their 'loyalty'
lies.
There are others that need
a good temperament, strong, healthy dog, in a larger size to accommodate
any special requirements that a smaller breed cannot provide them.
We feel that we can provide
those dogs. All our new breeding stock were chosen to produce well
rounded, excellent temperament and strong healthy young.
They have all been raised
in our home from ages as early as birth to 6 months old smothered with
love and attention, as with all our dogs. Ready to provide new young
ones for service training or an excellent companion for anyone. They
love people, children, and they even tolerate my mouthy parrot.
All breeds can provide
excellent assistance, but may be limited where certain needs have to be
considered for both the disabled individual and the dog they intend
to use. This must always be a prime point in the decision
of what type of dog you need to aide in your challenges. For your needs
maybe a Dane will not be suitable, where for some one else they would.
When picking out a dog always
keep these things in mind. Always consider your capability of caring
for your dog and providing for them. All the things that are very
important in choosing, caring for, and giving your dog the proper environment.
Most important, is to find
the dog that is best for you, regardless of the breed. So if you
are having trouble finding another breed, feel free to contact us
and we will give you all the assistance we can in locating what you are
looking for.
We do require that when
purchasing a dog for service training from us, you can show that your physician
has approved a Service Animal for you.
AZ Dragondanes will provide
Registration of your Service Dog and ID (good for the life of your dog
as a Service Dog), upon verification from your physician and our vet through
Registered
Service Dogs.
According to ADA Regulations,
your animal is not required to be licensed or certified to perform as a
service animal. Due to many individuals running into conflicts over
IDs, requirements of vest’s, etc. resulting from the uneducated public
members we have found these IDs and registrations help to alleviate some
of those obstacles.
AZ Dragondanes will also
help with any specific training you might need.
There are many organizations
available now that train dog & owner together. This also shortens
the wait time for people needing an assistance dog.
If you prefer to have your
dog trained by one of the many available training organizations the following
applies:
Should your contract cover
a replacement dog (if required), you have to provide confirmation that
you already submitted an application to one of the certified
organizations available when the time comes. If you need assistance
in finding certified training we will be happy to assist you. You
must
be able to prove your disability with verification from your doctor in
order to apply for these courses in most cases. Should the dog you
choose not complete their training, we will take the dog back, provide
you with another and will reimburse you for the cost of the training that
the first dog did not complete, on a one time basis only per contractual
agreement.
Our breeding stock are Harlequins,
Blues, Brindle, and Fawn. All with great temperaments,
sound and vet checked on a regular basis.
All colors are available
for service training.
So please look at our breeding
stock and puppies that we have had. Puppy pages will be updated when
new litters are on the way. As soon as pups are available, photos
will be featured on this site.
We welcome all feedback
from our new owners so we can continuously improve upon our bloodlines.
All dogs are pure bred Great Danes, AKC or CKC registered and bred according
to color code.
Feel free to contact us
with any questions you might have. We will do our best to try and
answer them to your satisfaction.
If you or some one you know
can benefit from a good Companion Dog or in need of a dog that can be trained
for Service/Assistance work, please refer them to us.
If we do not have pups at
the time, we will assign them to a waiting list. With all Service/Assistance
Dogs for training each contract is drawn according to the disabled individual's
needs. We will keep in constant contact with the new owner and if
a replacement dog is required at any time, it will be replaced in accordance
with the original contractual agreement.
We do sell our Companion
Dogs to approved homes.
Ground Shipping is available
for an additional charge. All of our dogs will be delivered by us
personally.
Due to living in Arizona there are only certain times of the year that
the airlines will ship animals due to the heat. We have decided that
we would deliver our own dogs within the continental United States to help
assure that they are treated appropriately, suffer less stress, and arrive
at their new homes without injury. This way, should you have any
questions or concerns; we will be there in person to address them.
We reserve the right to
refuse sale of any pup if we feel the sale is not in the best interest
of our puppy. Their well-being is first above everything else.
Deposits are accepted on
any litter but are non refundable. Should you change your mind?
If you have a deposit on a litter and something should happen to that litter,
your deposit will automatically be applied to the next litter.
We maintain two Waiting
Lists, one for dogs for Service/Assistance Training and one for Companions.
Dogs for training come first then companions. All placements require
interviews and home checks prior to sales.
